The Controversial Divorce Drama Between Ku Hye-Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun

26 SEPTEMBER 2020 - A 34-year-old actress, Ku Hye-Sun posted a picture on Instagram revealing that her husband, Ahn Jae-Hyun, is asking for a divorce after their three years of marriage.

This brought shocking news to their media industry as both Ku and Ahn are recognized as an admirable couple by the citizens as they constantly showed their affection for each other publicly to various shows and interviews. The two tied the knot in May of 2016 after shooting a drama together as the main cast in 2015, titled “Blood”. Their marriage was supported by their fans and seen as one of the biggest celebrity weddings, therefore the Instagram post by Ku regarding a divorce on the morning of 18 August shocked many of their fans including worldwide. It was a huge news for their fans to process and accept, as it was all over the news for a few months.

To point out the sudden news of this celebrity couple divorce, here is the complete timeline of what happened as well as the public statements from both sides regarding the process of their divorce.

Morning, 18 August: Ku Hye-Sun decided to post a photo of a piece of written paper “I love you Goo Hye-Sun, I love you Goo Hye-Sun” along with the caption “After we lost our spark, my husband has had a change of heart and wants a divorce, and I want to stay married.” She also added that their fans should not believe future allegations from her husband, as they are false.

After two hours, Ku posted screenshots of text messages between her and Ahn on her Instagram. From what was exposed, it looked as if the couple had already decided to proceed on their divorce and that Ku was forcing Ahn to tell her mother about their situation before proceeding.

The reason why she made the decision is because Ku has a strong mother-daughter relationship with her mother and insisted Ahn to tell his mother-in-law that he demands for the divorce.

In a long paragraph she sent to Ahn, Ku revealed that she has lost trust in both their marriage and her talent agency, HB entertainment. She also stated that there were screenshots of Ahn belittling her to the Ceo of the company in Kakao Talk messages. For that reason, she decided to leave the agency.

She also revealed to the public that Ahn was an alcoholic, told about their divorce to other women in a phone call and had an affair with an actress. The most shocking revelation is that she claims that Ahn did not find her nipples arousing.

Due to Ku’s allegations, Ahn was asked to step down as an ambassador for a cosmetic brand, Merbliss and fashion chain Giordano as Ku ruined his reputation.

On August 21: Ahn released his statement by accusing her of trespassing into his apartment in the middle of the night to go through his phone and claims that she was only telling the truths that only benefit her. He also stated that he never had an affair as he did his best as a husband and he would never cheat on her.

Later on February 6th 2020, Ku Hye-Sun made her public appearance in the SBS television program and stated “I didn’t have anyone to rely on and share my personal stories with, so I’ve started to rely on the public.” She also apologized to the fans for the troubles that she has caused as she did not think through about her past actions. She realized she had gone too far in humiliating Ahn.

However, some netizens commented that Ahn threw a shade towards Ku in his latest post after she made her public statement, saying that she was childish in handling their failed marriage.

Some fans even claimed that she needs psychological help as her reaction towards their divorce had most of their fans felt it was unnecessary to expose their text messages to the public.

Ku also shared that she finally has moved on from their relationship and she wants to focus more on her studies in London.

A source revealed that Ahn showed his support with her new path as he wished the best for her and not to dwell on their painful past any longer.
