21 OCTOBER 2020 - South Korean singer, Irene of Red Velvet, has been accused of being a bully towards a stylist during her time being in the girl group.

A stylist who has 15 years of experience in the industry took her dissatisfaction towards social media by writing about the experience she had faced while working with an unnamed famous celebrity. In the post it mentions that she [stylist] had felt “trampled and abused” by an anonymous celebrity. Even though the stylist did not state any name, she used hashtags like #psycho and #monster which happened to be the title of Red Velvet’s latest singles.

This issue has been the talk of the K-POP world and many people have made their own speculations about this issue. Based on the information that has been relayed on the media, the hashtags “psycho” referred to hit song psycho that was recorded by Red Velvet while “monster” was a sub-unit single with Irene and Seulgi of Red Velvet. Following the widespread accusation, Irene made her own comments towards it by posting on Instagram.

“I sincerely apologize for hurting the stylist with my foolish attitude and careless words and actions. I regret my immature actions which have caused great hurt.”

SM Entertainment, which is a famous agency that has been handling Red Velvet, has issued a statement saying they will work hard to prevent this incident from happening again. It is also said that Irene had met the stylist formally to apologize to her.

This issue has affected the rest of the Red Velvet members; Seulgi, Joy, Yeri and Wendy. Many fans of Red Velvet, Reveluvs, have been so excited to see the Red Velvet comeback after Wendy’s unfortunate stage accident that occurred in December of 2019.

Red Velvet was supposed to attend an online fans meet and greet as a part of the Korean Culture Festival 2020 on Saturday, but their agency, SM Entertainment decided to back off and had told the organizers that they will not be doing it.

Irene is currently starring in the upcoming film Double Patty, but many are wondering if the release of the drama would be affected due to this drama.
